KFFOTV.com launches feature-laden political hub0 Comments

With the race for the White House heating up across America, KFFOTV.com entered the foray of political coverage and opinion, launching its very own site in early February. "We hope this ushers in a much higher turnout in the Mississippi primaries and promotes more political awareness among Mississippians during the 2008 presidential race," KFFO-TV owner Fred Wilson said. Mississippi's primaries will be held March 11, with election coverage originating from the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford. Though Mississippi Tech had been considered for the debates as early as last fall, the lack of modern facilities forced both DNC and GOP committees to move their considerations to Ole Miss. Both races have been heating up since the Iowa caucuses kicked off the delegate race in January. It has been widely speculated that Sen. John McCain would easily grab the GOP nomination, but with Gov. Mitt Romney's abrupt exit, Mike Huckabee's chances seem promising, though he trails by more than 500 delegates. The Democratic race has yet to produce a clear-cut winner, with both Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama within 27 delegates of each other. Clinton holds a very minor lead to the Illinois senator. KFFOTV.com's new election site, located under the "features" tab of the site, will feature delegate percentages updated promptly during and after each primary, election news updated daily, and complete coverage of the caucuses and primaries leading up to the 2008 presidential race. It also will become the headquarters for two Mississippi heavyweights in the realm of political commentary: headquarters for both Richard Gannon and Walt Pearson. "I'm excited as a lamb in a PETA facility," Gannon said. "My candidate [Mitt Romney] has already dropped out, but my opinions haven't. Look for a fiery section." Pearson agrees. "You kidding me? I can't believe that we have this much to work with," Pearson said. "Both Obama and Clinton are the most interesting candidates we've had come through in years. I can't believe either of them have made it this far. Thank God for Oprah and the feminist movement." Stay tuned to KFFO-TV and KFFOTV.com for continuing election coverage leading up to the 2008 Presidential election.
